Safilo at MIDO: focus on Safilo's new optical frame collections for spring/summer 2018

26/02/2018

Safilo, the fully integrated Italian eyewear creator, manufacturer and worldwide distributor of quality and trust, presents its new Spring/Summer 2018 optical frame collections, anticipating the main design trends for the season.

Safilo is renowned worldwide for its unique craftsmanship legacy which celebrates this year its 140th anniversary, dating back to 1878: the strength of this heritage has made Safilo synonymous with optical eyewear excellence and re-affirms now its renewed leadership in the optical segment.

From catwalks to red carpets, optical frames are gaining status as a fashion and design accessory, increasing their legitimacy as a complementary addition to the total look and an accessory to enhance beauty, outfits and the personality of the wearer.

OPTICS AND HARMONY:
Since its inception, Safilo’s worldwide research and development teams have interpreted the trends emerging from different customer needs. Each frame is designed, developed and engineered in house not only for the best fit and comfort but also to enhance the features and confidence of the wearer.

Each face, in fact, requires specific constructions that are not only at the basis of the perfect fit but are also able to complement the shapes and lines of different faces., In the case of women, glasses can further complement their makeup and enhance it if properly studied.

When selecting a new optical frame, the key is to focus on the type of lenses needed, fit and comfort, as well as on some specific rules based on face shape, proportions and tones to balance the overall look and feel.

Optical collections designed by Safilo take into consideration designs that perfectly fit different face shapes, from square, to rectangular, from cat-eye, to round, pilot and pantos, each of them is in line with precise morphological parameters and aesthetical standards. As a further step, make-up worn behind the frames can enhance the personality and emphasize the morphological traits. The key is to know tips and tricks.

That’s why at MIDO 2018 a make-up corner in partnership with Collistar - the Italian cosmetic company leader in Perfumery for the last 15 years - will be present to allow visitors to enjoy a unique beauty experience, learning how to choose eyeglass frames to fit each face shape and how to best apply make-up when wearing glasses, with make-up tips and looks that complement the choice of specs.

Safilo and Collistar offer personalized beauty tips to different consumers and eyewear shapes, based on the diverse types of eyewear and usages, to be calibrated case by case on each face shape and chromatic palette in order to create the perfect balance and overall effect:

  • Fashion: butterfly shapes for fashion-passionate women, enhanced by bold colors and strong details, to be enhanced with make-up in line with the most up-to-date colors and contouring effects.
  • Glamour: timeless round or cat-eye shapes to complement a subtle style, declined in up-to-date colors, to be matched with elegant make-up, based on nude colors and blush strokes, recalling the vintage allure of Hollywood.
  • Classic: elegant and sophisticated frames for a lady-like style, such as rimless round or cat-eye models as well as acetate roundish shapes in neutral colors, to be underlined by make-up in warm tones with a focus on the eyes.
  • Contemporary Cool: the optical frames for young and trendy eyewear-lovers, such as metal pilot shapes or tear-drop acetate styles, to be complemented with soft make-up enhancing the skin tone with luminous touches or with a focus on the lips.
  • Genderless: the functional and high-quality optical frames dedicated to urban business women have unisex roundish or squared shapes, in classic colors like black and Havana, which are to be highlighted by practical and long-lasting make-up playing with nude tones and a subtle focus either on the eyes or on the lips, for a magnetic effect.

SAFILO: VISION BEYOND FRAMES
The new SAFILO collection of optical frames renews its long-standing heritage of technical and aesthetic content, with a new range of optical frames celebrating the superior design, functional innovation and “Made-in-Italy” know-how for which the brand is globally recognized.
Dedicated to a demanding and educated consumer, the new optical collection includes a balanced mixed of styles, featuring refined combinations of metal and acetate, crafted for enduring elegance, outstanding strength and distinctive visual impact.
Every frame is a statement about functional aesthetics and impeccable craftsmanship, as the result of the genuine expertise of designers, artisans, engineers and technicians, who elevate know-how to a true vision: each frame is meticulously crafted following a process that combines both technological advancements and human touch.
Named after the traditional tools and techniques involved in the production of the frames, with a clear reference to the authentic Made in Italy quality, the new optical frames are a celebration of Italian manufacturing starting from their names, such as Buratto, Sagoma, Aletta, Ranella and more (styles: ALETTA01, SAGOMA 02, BURATTO04).

CARRERA: DEDICATED TO UNCONVENTIONAL AND DARING MINDS
Carrera – synonymous with pioneering design and outstanding quality – is a statement brand since 1956 for people who live by their own rules, continuously defying themselves and proudly approaching life standing out from the crowd.”
The Carrera Optical collection for Spring Summer 2018 launches a design language focused on quality, features, innovation and lightness. The new Optical release introduces a full rx-able offer, highlighting key details that follow the same principles as the Sun collection such as the flexible hinges that enhance comfort and flexibility, and easy to wear shapes that combine iconic design elements that fully represent Carrera’s character. To expand the optical collection, in 2018 Carrera presents frames that combine international and Asian fitting, all specially thought to perfectly fit everyone who stands out from the crowd.
Making its debut with this range is the brand's new design concept - the Tank Hinge - that ensures a comfortable fit and makes every pair easy to put on and take off. Lightweight and flexible, this unique hinge construction features the brand’s trademark touch of red that highlights the sophisticated mechanism of the hinge when in action. A sly nod to where Carrera’s journey began, the Tank Hinge takes its name from a motorcycle gas tank - a tribute to the moto-racing scene.
Moreover, each piece from the “Signature” family is finished with the iconic Flag symbol - Carrera’s signature motif reminiscent of the brand’s sports heritage.
Italian Design, lightweight materials and artisanal care for details mark the excellence of the Signature collection: beautifully crafted and perfectly balanced between fit and style, these styles are designed to make you stand out from the crowd (styles: CARRERA 168/V and CARRERA 169/V).

The retro-inspired optical frames feature a unique mix of materials between the polycarbonate front and the steel temples, enhanced by original color combinations, for an eye-catching result (styles: PLD341 and PLD 342).
