CARRERA technical eyewear leaders in the world of bicycle racing

Padua, April 2007 – For the 2007 season CARRERA takes the lead in the world of bicycle racing as the sponsor of the Salieri Team, who are a particularly competitive team in the “Cross-Country” and “Mountain Bike” divisions. Safilo Group's technical brand supplies both the eyewear and racing helmets.

Founded in 1995, the Salieri Team now has over 200 athletes, including several international champions in both categories. Mirko Pirazzoli was the European Elite Champion in Mountain Biking in 2003 and Emanuele Negrini and Andrea Patuelli in the Cross-Country division. For the 2007 racing season the team will be racing top athletes such as Emanuele Negrini, Maurizio Frigo, Andrea Patuelli, Marco Bettini, Melissa Merloni and Sara Ariatti.

The season has barely gotten underway and the Salieri Team has already achieved an important award with second place in the “Agolanti Cross-Country – City of Riccione”. Bologna's Giuseppe Corsello won the Silver Medal in the 125 kilometre race, the first major win for the team this year.

CARRERA has been a leader in the world of professional bicycle racing and mountain-biking for many years. They have cooperated with athletes from many international teams and have supplied a special line of eyewear and helmets designed particularly for bikers. The collections, however are completed by targeting people who have a total love of sports.
